The event was sponsored by VIVO and took place through the aegis of Minas Gerais’s Municipal Cultural Incentive Law.
The Festival runs over four days, with a mix of workshops, lectures and shows and with the big names of instrumental music receiving well-known MPB artists. The workshops and lectures take place at the Memorial do Vale, in the Praça da Liberdade, while the shows take place in Belo Horizonte’s Parque Municipal.
On the Thursday, a panel of the principal market players (CD Baby, Embolacha, Spotify, OneRPM, Tratore, BMA), debates the future of Brazilian music’s production chain; on the Friday, workshops are held by virtuosos of Brazil’s instrumntal music scene, such as Marcos Suzana (percussion), Carlos Malta (flute and fife). The shows take place on Saturday and Sunday in the Parque Municipal, with DJs, Foodtrucks, Instrumental groups and well-known MPB artists.
The second edition of Sunset BH Instrumental is planned for December 2017 and the program promises to be brilliant. Wait for it!
