Conceived and produced by Casa de Fulô, the Festival Experia brings together artists belonging to Brazil’s independent music scene, who all have in common a taste for musical experimentation.
The Festival, which has taken place in Brasilia (2016) and Rio de Janeiro (2017), provides a panorama of the independent scene, composers and artists, with new sounds, that have appeared on the scene to reshape MPB. The event orchestrates musical encounters after having judiciously selected the most innovative work in contemporary music.
EXPERIA 2016 was held at the Caixa Cultural Brasilia and featured Marcelo Jeneci, Ana Cañas, Raquel Coutinho, Ava Rocha and Karina Bhur. Experia 2017 was held at the Caixa Cultural Rio de Janeiro and featured Lucas Santana, Juliana Perdigão, Duda Brack, Otto, Mihay, Anelis Assumpção, Gui Amabis, Siba, Posada and Mariana Aydar. In February 2018, the festival took place at Caixa Cultural Brasilia again with unforgetable encounters: As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira + BNegão; Curumim + Russo Passapusso; Pélico + Filipe Catto; Juliana Perdigão + Tulipa Ruiz e Marcia Castro + Otto.
Brazilian Independent music is a force to be reckoned with, creating alternate paths for the schizophrenia that is mass communication, controlled by few and heard by many. Luckily, there are already a large number of consumers, avid for novelty and quality, who recognize how much good work is being produced. And EXPERIA 2018 seeks to build on that, by hosting some of today’s most relevant artists.
